Government to legislate to overturn Barker v Corus judgment

The Government has stepped in to the debate about asbestos claims where there are several employers, following the Lords’ judgment in Barker v Corus . The Government is to amend the Compensation Bill to ensure that employers are jointly and severally liable. The Government said that the proposals would help mesothelioma sufferers receive proper compensation, and that the legislation will improve the system of making claims involving more than one negligent employer.
