Home Office reveals compensation paid to prisoners

Home Office minister Gerry Sutcliffe has revealed the amount of compensation paid to prisoners by the public sector prison service in England and Wales in 2004-05 and 2005-06. The Secretary of State for the Home Department was asked in a written question how much compensation has been paid to prisoners in each of the last eight years; and what the reason was in each case.
