Trade union warning over skin cancer
Trade union GMB has warned Britain’s million of outdoor workers and their employers about the risks from skin cancer resulting
from workers being sun burnt while at work. Latest figures from Cancer Research UK show that 1,777 people die from malignant
melanoma each year and 1,002 of these are men. The rate of melanoma in men is rising faster than for any other cancer except
prostate. Over the last 10 years melanoma rates in men have increased by 42% as against 48% for prostate cancer.
