£62,300 for pavement trip

A 73-year-old man who tripped on a broken pavement has been awarded £62,300. The man damaged his spinal cord and spent five months in hospital learning to walk again. The council had agreed to pay £30,000 if it was found to be at fault, but the court added a further £32,300 for his pain and suffering.
