£3,800 settlement for severed finger

A man has been awarded £3,800 by his employers in an out of court settlement after losing part of a finger and being unable to work for three months. The man lacerated the end of the ring finger on his left hand whilst lifting a steel plate. His lawyer said that the accident could have been prevented if the correct safety mechanisms were in place, such as the correct jig.
