Decrease in major injuries reporting

A study has revealed that there has been a decrease in the level of reporting of major injuries to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) over recent years. Specifically, the level of reporting was higher in 1999-2000 than in 2001/02 and 2002/03. Official HSE figures say that the number of reported major injuries in manufacturing declined between 1999-2000 and 2002/03. This finding may therefore suggest that major injury has actually deteriorated in real terms.
