Police pay-out £50,000 over witness murder

A police force has paid compensation of £50,000 to the parents of a witness at a trial who was murdered just days before being due to give evidence against a former employee on theft charges. The parents sued the police, claiming they had done nothing to protect their son despite repeated threats from the employee to murder their son. The police claimed the murder was impossible to predict.
