£500,000 settlement over brain damage

A woman has been awarded £500,000 by the High Court after she was left brain damaged after giving birth. The woman is reported to have been in a “minimally conscious state” since the birth of her child in 1999. She suffered from pre-eclampsia and her husband claimed that the hospital was negligent for having failed to carry out a caesarean birth.
