Long-distance travel leads to greater risk of DVT

A research programme funded by the Department for Transport has confirmed that long-distance travel leads to a small but increased risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The risk, which applies to all forms of travel, appears to be predominantly the result of prolonged immobility.
