Muslim man loses discrimination claim

A Muslim man has lost his claim for religious and racial discrimination against an insurance company. The insurance salesman objected to work incentives which consisted of alcoholic drinks as his religion forbade him from drinking alcohol. He said no alternatives were offered and therefore he had been discriminated against. However, the employment tribunal ruled that a non-Muslim teetotaller would also have been in the same position, regardless of religion or race and therefore his claim failed.
