Compensation claims over slopping out
The Scottish Prison Service is reported to have denied claims that it had set up a fund designed to cover claims from prisoners
alleging breaches of their human rights. Media reports suggest that there is a contingency liability fund of £26mn, revealed
in the annual accounts of the Scottish Prison Service. The issue revolves around slopping out and a recent award of £2,400
to one prisoner who sued for compensation under the European Convention on Human Rights.
