Wood machinist loses finger

A man who lost his finger and function from his left hand after an accident at work has been paid £8,000 compensation by his employer. The man worked as a wood machinist and injured his hand while working on a panel saw. He argued that he should have received training on the use of the panel saw, and that the guards around the saw did not give sufficient protection from the blade.
