Racial discrimination at work

A council has paid undisclosed compensation to an employees who was the victim of racial discrimination at work. The woman was told by her manager she had to ask permission before speaking in Punjabi. The woman works in the social services department at the council and helps organise care for the elderly, many of whom are Asian with Punjabi as their first language. The council admitted unlawful race discrimination.
