£5mn compensation for brain damage at birth

A hospital trust has agreed to pay £5mn compensation to a woman who suffered severe brain damage at birth. The incident took place in 1974, when the baby suffered oxygen starvation when she was born prematurely, resulting in severe brain damage and cerebral palsy. After an investigation, the hospital made a full admission of liability in 2003.
