Wrong drug resulted in birth defect

A hospital trust has admitted responsibility for a baby who was left severely brain damaged after a drug was wrongly given to his mother during his birth. The 18 month old child has a severe form of cerebral palsy and epilepsy, and requires 24-hour care. The level of compensation is being assessed. The mother was induced with a drug that should not have been used on those who have given birth several times before. The woman already had seven children.
