Fair dismissal in HIV teacher case
A claim for unfair dismissal has been rejected in the case of a teacher who claimed he was sacked from a private school after
telling the head he was HIV positive. The head insisted that she had not told the school board of his HIV status. An employment
tribunal ruled the school had acted fairly in dismissing him. The school said that he had been dismissed because his relationships
with other members of staff had broken down irretrievably.
