New EU laws may mean excessive claims
European employers’ lobby UNICE has told the BBC’s World Business Report that new European Union laws forcing polluting firms
to pay clean-up costs will expose businesses to excessive claims. UNICE said that businesses could be overcharged because
of problems in estimating clean-up costs accurately.
