Liability Risk and Insurance
Three studies highlight passive smoking risks
New research shows that passive smoking leads to an increased risk of death, heart attacks, and can mean the slower healing
of wounds. The British Medical Journal online published research that showed for non-smokers who live with a smoker, there
is a 15% higher risk of death. It also published research which found that the number of heart attack admissions in a city
in the US fell by 40% during a ban on smoking in public places and workplaces in 2002. The ban was later overturned.
