£3.2mn settlement for anaesthetic error
A five-year-old girl who suffered brain damage during a tonsillectomy has received a settlement of £3.2mn. The girl, who is
now 13, requires 24-hour care. The NHS Trust admitted liability. The girl received too much anaesthetic during surgery, resulting
in hypoxia.
