Police pay damages

A man who was repeatedly stabbed by a mentally ill man has received £81,000 in damages, plus costs. The man sued police after he went onto a roof to talk down the mentally ill man, a friend. The man sued the police for negligence because they had failed to give him the full information about the dangers posed by the man, such as previous incidents of stabbing.
