Police sued in cell death

Police are to be sued by the partner of a man who died after being held in a police cell. The man was found drunk in the street and put in a police cell. A fatal accident inquiry found that police had broken their own guidelines. The partner’s solicitor alleges gross negligence on the part of police officers. Disciplinary procedures were taken against several officers after the death.
