AXA UK boss attacks government on EL
AXA UK boss Peter Hubbard has been reported as criticising the Department of Work and Pensions over its attitude to the employers’
liability crisis. He was quoted as saying “We had expected more than just ‘we’ll look at the problem again.’” He explained
that AXA UK was currently facing a loss ratio of 147% on employers’ liability cover and that the company “has no desire to
continue to support a loss-making class of business.” He called for a cap on payments to victims, a government-supported fund
to help pay for large industrial disease claims, and a moderation of the legal sector’s involvement in liability claims.
