US insurers increase reserves by $22.1bn
A study by Weiss Ratings has found that in 2002 US property/casualty insurers increased reserves for prior-year paid and unpaid
claims by $22.1bn, compared to $11.7bn in 2001. Weiss said that this increase in reserves is the largest by the US property/casualty
industry since Weiss began its analysis over 10 years ago.
