Ban smoking in public places says Chief Medical Officer

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) has called for a ban on smoking in public places. In his annual report, the CMO says that a key part of tackling the health risks of smoking is protecting people, both smokers and non-smokers, from tobacco smoke: ‘Very serious consideration should be given to introducing a ban on smoking in public places soon.’
