Soldier fails in discrimination case
In a case involving a serving soldier who claimed racial discrimination because of the Army’s failure to give him halal meat,
the Court of Appeal ruled that Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which guarantees the right to a fair
trial, did not apply to the discrimination claim under the Race Relations Act brought by the soldier. The court said he had
first to comply with the Army’s internal redress procedures.
