Duke and Archbishops to lose job
The job of adjudicating complaints from students failing to gain an expected degree level. For hundreds of years the Privy
Council has had the final say for 17 ancient universities, others using the Lord Chancellor’s Office or nominated individuals,
as in the heading. Those at Universities established after 1992 have to use the courts. Now, an increase in complaints is
likely to lead to the replacement of all these by the appointment of a new independent adjudicator.
