Liability Risk and Insurance
Dangerous driving sentences will cost insurers
Beachcroft Wansbroughs, commenting on proposed increases in custodial sentences for dangerous driving (to 14 years where death
resulted therefrom), notes that this will also impact on insurers’ costs. The greater the risk of a custodial sentence, the
greater the incentive to opt for court rather than pleading guilty, thus triggering defence costs for insurers.
