Dangerous driving sentences will cost insurers

Beachcroft Wansbroughs, commenting on proposed increases in custodial sentences for dangerous driving (to 14 years where death resulted therefrom), notes that this will also impact on insurers’ costs. The greater the risk of a custodial sentence, the greater the incentive to opt for court rather than pleading guilty, thus triggering defence costs for insurers.
