Italy delays third party reform

The introduction of a recently enacted third party insurance reform package is to be delayed for a year. Plans for a single national tariff met with opposition from insurers and consumers who believed it would lead to steep premium increases in some, less accident prone, areas and reductions in Naples, in particular, where current premiums reflect the high accident and fraud rates. Steps are now planned to ‘correct unintended and undesirable effects’ – probable reversal of the provision.
