Thalidomide tax concession withdrawn

An error in the setting up of the Trust fund for victims of thalidomide, making payment subject to tax, was discovered in 1974. Until 1997 the Treasury has made concessionary repayments of this tax to the 455 victims who each receive around £11,000 a year.
