Bhopal: smoking gun?
New Scientist of 7 December 2002 reports court-ordered release of an internal document, dating back to 1972, in which Union
Carbide indicate its significant involvement in the design and running of the Indian subsidiary plant. The catastrophic explosion
in 1988, certainly made worse if not caused by unsafe skimping in safety design and construction, led to 8,000 immediately
dead and 150,000 injured, with many still dying over the subsequent years.
