Changes in class action rules

A group of 27 federal judges has proposed changes in the rules for US class actions so as to protect the interests of individual plaintiffs. Following 10 years of study, these are the most far-reaching proposals since 1966. A key proposal is to all individual plaintiffs to withdraw from a settlement after its terms are known rather than when the suit is initiated as at present.
