Verdict favours Union Carbide

A Minnesota jury has issued a verdict in favour of Union Carbide in a suit in which ceiling tile manufacturer Conwed Corp had sought to recover its contribution to a fund for six employees exposed to asbestos fibres through substances supplied by Union Carbide and another company, resulting in mesothelioma. Union Carbide argued that the material it supplied was not a cause of their illness. The jury agreed.
