Customs offer rejected

An offer of £5,500 compensation for the confiscation of car and tobacco by customs officials from cross channel shopper Paul Nevin has been rejected. This and similar cases arise from continued zeal by customs and excise in identifying those they believe are importing tobacco and alcohol for onward sale, rather than own use, despite recent court rulings. In the case at issue the shopper seeks £18,000.
