European liability insurance 2000

Following the surveys of the UK and Irish liability markets, our database team has produced tables of premium income for leading European groups and companies writing general liability risks. Table 1 lists the premium income for liability business for insurance groups and is based on those groups with a gross premium income for the class in excess of US$10mn. Table 2 lists the insurance companies whose liability gross premiums exceeded US$50mn in 2000. Based on company/group annual reports, it should be noted some companies do not provide a breakdown of premiums by class of business, thus some major players may not be listed.
