Mont Blanc tunnel partly reopens
Three years after it was closed following a truck fire and 39 deaths, the Mont Blanc tunnel has reopened to light traffic.
The single-tube tunnel, built in 1965, has undergone a complete overhaul and upgrade of safety installations, including the
provision of separate evacuation tunnels, at a cost to the Franco-Italian operating company TMB of €300mn.
