World Trade Center ‘occurrence’ clash looms

A major confrontation is developing as World Trade Center leaseholder Larry Silverstein seeks US$7.2bn from his insurers. Rejecting his approach that the crash into each tower constituted a ‘separate occurrence’, they argue the coordination of the event triggers a single-event claim only, up to his insured limit of US$3.2bn. A similar problem relating to the invasion of Kuwait is still unresolved more than 10 years later.
