‘Reckless indifference’ in gun selling

The ‘reckless indifference’ of Kmart in the selling of a shotgun to a known paranoid schizophrenic has led to US$1.5mn punitive damage and US$1.5mn compensation. This was a jury award to the parents of 19-year-old Ryan Tait Eslinger, who used the gun to kill himself.
