Failure to pay a US$9,500 claim for theft of a van has left Warrior Insurance liable to pay almost US$5mn. It was found guilty
of ‘outrageous consumer fraud, deceptive practices and misrepresentations’ by its actions, which included a company employee
posing as a police officer and threatening the truck’s owner with prosecution for filing a false claim.
