Jury bucks smoking claim to asbestos exposure
during his work as a bricklayer. An Ohio jury rejected the claim by David Tompkin’s widow, accepting Big Tobacco arguments
that his lung disease was caused by exposure to asbestos while working, and that the dangers of smoking were widely known
before the period he smoked. Appeal is under consideration.
