After major restructuring following withdrawal of capital provider CGNU from the London market and acquisition (through a subsidiary) by Berkshire Hathaway, two Marlborough syndicates remain in business this year. Syndicate 1861, writing marine business, has recently lost its Standard & Poor’s ranking on the discovery that business written by syndicate 744 was not continued into 1861.
