Mobile distraction

Research at the University of Utah shows drivers using mobile phones overshoot red lights and react more slowly to obstacles to a greater extent than when performing other tasks such as changing radio stations or listening to the radio. The similar incidence of poor driving, whether using handheld or hands-free equipment, indicated driver distraction came from engaging in a phone conversation rather than the physical act of dialling or holding a phone.
