During its loss-making second quarter, Federal-Mogul made US$82mn asbestos-related payments and the volume of new claims continues
to rise. The recent bankruptcies of other codefendant companies in asbestos litigation and a decrease in voluntary asbestos
liability settlements are contributing to the increased demands against Federal-Mogul.
