Sir John Krebs, head of the Food Standards Agency, has ordered detailed analysis of last year’s findings of environmental
health officers’ inspections of restaurants and other food outlets. Of 235,969 inspected almost 120,000 were found to have
some shortfall, many flouting food hygiene and safety standards.
