Artwork coated with asbestos
Discovery that a massive 120-foot-long Raoul Dufy painting celebrating electricity is coated with asbestos has led to closure
of a gallery in the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. It is believed to have been sprayed onto the back of the 250 wooden panels
as an antifire measure, possibly when it was first exhibited in 1937. An art restorer will oversee an industrial asbestos
removal team.
