BSE, CJD and rural risks

Ten government-sponsored inquiries – none of them a ‘public inquiry’ – are now running on aspects of foot-and-mouth (F&M) disease. Among matters considered will be: how the disease entered Britain and the effectiveness of response; the future of farming in Britain; scientific consideration as to whether vaccination appropriate for any future outbreak; and an Audit Office inquiry into the financial aspects of F&M.
