‘Witnessing’ event

The claimant heard screams, and sirens, over a mobile phone call from his wife when their daughter was killed by a speeding car. His claim for stress caused by ‘witnessing’ the event over the phone was rejected as he was not physically present at the scene. It is uncertain whether (further) potential widening of ‘witnessing’ traumatic events will go to appeal.
