Loss of parental guidance
A young mother whose husband had been killed in a road accident sought additional damages on behalf of her children for their
loss of parental support, guidance and training. On appeal this was disallowed. Justice Wallwork commented: ‘Although [the
award] is [made] in some other countries, it is not the practice in Australia.’
