End of government freeze in Italy

With the government’s freeze on motor liability premiums coming to an end, Italian insurance association ANIA seeks more effective measures to contain rising claims costs. It claims there has been little progress on measures agreed between ANIA, the government, consumer groups and market regulator ISVAP. ANIA stated: ‘In this situation, insurers, in order to continue to pay claimsholders, can’t but adapt their rates to the dynamics of accident costs, costs that increase each year much more than inflation.’
