Increases in awards under the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme, costing an expected £20mn a year, have been announced
along with some new categories. The biggest change is a 10% increase in the middle-range tariff, with compensation for the
loss of a hand, for example, now attracting £44,000. However, the top limit remains at £250,000.
