Compulsory motor liability in Slovakia

Although motor liability cover in Slovakia becomes a legal requirement from 28 February 2001, liberalisation has been delayed until the start of 2002. This is at the request of the Slovak Association of Insurance Companies, uncertain whether insurers could be ready for mid-2001. However, the Financial Service Office of the finance ministry will accept licence applications from insurers wishing to enter this market – currently only open to Slovenska Poistovna – from mid-2001.
